French Study & Cultural Immersion in Guadeloupe

  Guadeloupe
    Sainte Anne

Dates: Start every Monday, all year round.

Description: Our school is small but offers a very relaxing and friendly atmosphere. The facilities include 5 classrooms all with air conditioning, modern furniture, students have the use of the internet (for a small charge) and the school can hold about 15-30 students.

Students come from around the world to study here, mainly from North America, Switzerland, Germany and other parts of Europe. Training materials such as tapes and textbooks are available to use.

This is a very relaxed way to study and learn a language, however the teachers are very professional and take the teaching seriously. After classes are over for the day, Sainte Anne's Beach, one of the most beautiful on the island, is only two minutes away. All amenties are close to the school, including banks, shops and cafes.

Highlights: Guadeloupe was originally called Karukera - or "island of beautiful waters" - by its native Carib inhabitants. Its first European visitor was Columbus, who landed here in 1493 and renamed the island in homage to Santa Maria de Guadalupe, in Extremadura, Spain. Since 1946 the island has been part of the French nation as a French overseas department and today enjoys the same political status as any part of France located in Europe. There are over 428,000 inhabitants.

Guadeloupe is also an archipelago composed of five other island clusters: Les Saintes, Marie-Galante, La Désirade and Petite Terre, Saint Martin and Saint Barthélémy.

Guadeloupe comprises of two islands separated by a sea arm - "La Rivière Salée". Grande-Terre in the east is mostly flat and the climate here is dry. Sugar cane plantations farm its limestone soil. The highest hills are in the Grands-Fonds to the south of the island.

Basse-Terre is a mountainous volcanic island, the highest peak is "La Soufrière" (an active vulcano). The clouds, stopped by the mountains, provide the island with abundant rain all the year, however the eastern Atlantic coast is more flat, here you will find large banana plantations.
