Berlin is ground zero of some of the most profound change of the late twentieth century. After the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989, Berlin has risen phoenix-like to become one of the most modern capitals in Europe. This city of greater than three million people is in the process of reclaiming its soul from the bits, pieces, and remnants of its shattered history. Each shard becoming part of the colorful new mosaic that is today's Berlin. The school is situated in the heart of Berlin, close to the subway making all points throughout the city very accessible. There is a friendly atmosphere among the staff and students. Many have intense discussions and practice sessions in the cafeteria over coffee after class- the beginnings of most friendships! It's here where the evening activities and weekend trips are planned. From cabaret to techno, Berlin continues to reinvent itself as a counterculture hotspot that has both eyes firmly looking to the future. * Nightlife in Berlin in fantastic, start at MS Sanouci, then ask around for live venues. Tiergarten, a great place to hang out with friends, take a boat ride, or checkout the famous zoo. * Be sure to plan a day trip to the glorious eighteenth century Sanssouci Palace of Frederick the great beautifully restored with an enchanting garden. * Dahlem Museum Complex, one of Germany's best museums. An excellent collection of medieval art and ethnographic collections. * Checkpoint Charlie Museum, tells the story of the infamous Berlin Wall and the stories of those who tried to sneak their way through. * Pergamonmuseum, contains wonderful treasures from Babylon, Greece and Asia, named after an frieze that illustrates the struggle between giants and the gods. * Brandenburg Gate is symbolic of the the Cold War. Take a taxi ride through the gate and experience the days of old.
