Description: The courses are addressed to students who want to study Italian intensively, living in contact with the local people and getting to know their culture. They take place from Monday to Friday.

There are four levels:

1. Beginner level: for those students without a previous knowledge of Italian. Aim: to be able to use Italian in simple, daily life situations.

2. Elementary level: for those students who already have a basic knowledge of the Italian grammar structures. Aim: to be able to express themselves in different contexts through the widening of their grammar and vocabulary knowledge.

3. Intermediate level: for those students who have a good vocabulary base and a good knowledge of the language's structure. Aim: to be able to have a fluent and correct conversation in order to express correctly their opinions on current topics.

4. Advanced level: for those students who have already mastered Italian but wish to express themselves in a more correct and suitable way. Particular attention will be given to written expression and to different aspects of the language, according to the students' interests.

Our method is based on a communicative-situational approach that aims to acquire the communicative competence through the promotion of the four basic skills at the same time (the ability to listen, speak, read, and write to understand and be understood), as outlined by the Council of Europe in the Common European Framework of Reference.

The students will be involved in order to create a welcoming, informal and relaxed atmosphere.

Our goal is teaching the living and up-to-date language and spreading the Italian culture through role-playing and dramatization activities, discussions on current topics and on films, analysis of literary texts and newspaper articles, listening to songs. In order to put into practice what has been learnt in the classroom, the lessons include interviews with Reggio's inhabitants and excursions to the market, to local shops, to travel agencies, museums and other locations.

'Homestay' Study - Abroad Courses

'Homestay' means private tutorials at a qualified Italian teacher's house. The teacher will host a student and will be at his/her disposal not only to offer regular language lessons, but also to promote the different aspects of the local culture.

The student will have the possibility to participate in the host's social life and will therefore be able to learn Italian in every moment of the day, chatting in a relaxed way with his/her teacher or going with him/her to the cinema, to the theatre, visiting friends or shopping. This is the ideal solution for those who need to learn as much as possible in a short time and for those interested in entering in direct contact with our country's daily life and culture without any interference with his/her mother tongue.

The 'homestay' program also offers the advantage to study according on a flexible schedule, from 2 to 4 hours a day and, together with the teacher, to identify the most useful topics for each student. The student will have a bedroom at his/her disposal and, when possible, a private bathroom, but he/she will share with the host family the other rooms in the house. The teachers are carefully selected and constantly monitored.

Reggio Lingua also offers Italian cooking classes.

They last 5 days and consist of daily classes of three hours each. You will learn to prepare the typical plates of Reggio Emilia: tortelli, lasagne, cappelletti, erbazzone, different types of condiments for pasta, and traditional desserts. We will eat what we have cooked together for lunch. We can also visit local wine cellars, Parmesan cheese producers and balsamic vinegar producers. The courses are held at a local agriturismo where rooms are available for overnight accommodation. The agriturismo is located 4 kms from the centre of Reggio Emilia and is easily reached by bus or by bicycle. During your stay, the owners of the agriturismo can offer many possible activities such as: golf, horseback riding, mountain biking, and nature hikes through the Reggiana hills.

Highlights: The classes are small groups with a minimum of 3 students and a maximum of 5. Every lesson last 55 minutes.

At the end of each course a certificate of attendance is given.

In addition the school offers its help to those students who wish to get CILS or CELI certifications.

A 5% discount is provided to high school and university students and a 10% discount is given starting from the second month of attendance.

Prices include:
Italian language lessons, 6 nights accommodation, full board for 6 days and teaching materials.

Pick-up service at Bologna railway station or airport available upon request (Euro 80). This service is available from 8:00 am to 10:00 pm. Students requiring pick-up service must communicate all necessary information (airport/railway station, date and time of arrival, flight number, etc.) to our office at least one week in advance.
