Arabic Language for English Speakers Summer Class in Morocco
Morocco
Description:
School Location and Profile: The courses will take place on the first language institute in the city, housed in a large quiet villa. The tranquil residential neighbourhood is only a 5 to 10-minute walk from the city center (new city) and within easy walking distance of a variety of restaurants, snaks and cafes. The institute offer language exchange opportunities while interacting with young Moroccans who study English. Course Options Overview and Activities: Modern Standard Arabic (MSA) : Modern Standard Arabic (MSA) is the written language of Arabic. In its classical form it is the language of the Holy Koran. In its everyday use it is the language of newspapers and is also widely heard on radio and television. MSA is a' used living' language used by educated people and intellectuals. Accommodation Option: Host Family: (private room) 3 meals daily. Living with a host family is probably the best and most effective way to become fully immersed into the language and culture of Morocco. All families are chosen after a careful selection procedure and usually live not more than 20 minutes away. Students have access to all living areas in the house and in most cases, will be expected to share the bathroom. All bed linens and pillows will be provided, however we suggest you bring your own towels. Staying in a family is a truly wonderful experience and many students make lifetime friends with their host family. However, you should also have realistic expectations and recognize that an element of flexibility is required to adjust to the local customs, standard of accommodation and way of life of a Moroccan family. Our class doesn't require individual skills but it demands your motivation to overcome all difficulties. Our programme is open to participants from 18 to 30 years old. One of the aims of our programme is to discover the Moroccan culture and history and compare this to yours.
Highlights:
Tourist and Cultural Activities: These are the first things that come to mind when speaking about free time. Participants will probably be interested to visit some local art galleries or museums, see the sights, get to know the local countryside/seaside, etc. Being a student is a chance for you to get to know the country "from the inside", and experience more than a normal tourist. After classes are over for the day, our program allows you plenty of time to discover your new country, culture and customs. Our optional cultural and social activities allow you to make new friends among your new classmates, experience cultural activities together and practice your new language skills in real life situations. In any case, you may bring games, cards, and musical instruments. Participants are free to choose what and how they want to spend their free time' Being part of an international cultural short term project is a chance for the participant to get to know the country "from the inside", and experience more than a normal tourist.
