Accademia Europea di Firenze's Mission Statement: Born from the initiative of a group of instructors, seasoned in the practice of teaching foreigners, Accademia Europea di Firenze's principle objective is to diffuse the Italian language and culture around the world.
Years of experience and identifying the difficulties related to learning Italian as a second language and studying in a foreign country, have contributed to the creation of a structure in which, the student and his/her needs are of fundamental importance, both during the accademic and didactic activity, as well as outside of the classroom.
Our personal challenge is to provide our students with an atomosphere in which no aspect of their soujourn is overlooked; one that works toward constantly reinforcing their motivation, helping them to overcome the initial barriers (territorial, linguistic and cultural) that separate them emotionally from the foreign environment.
We emphasize the importance of putting the language to immediate use, especially during the initial phases of learning a foreign language, and most of all, within the parameters of a student's own particular interests. This creates a stimulus for overcoming challenges and helps to organize one's studying in such a way that the effort spent is widely compensated by success. The Music and Art Depatments, in fact, complement the Language Department, not only by offering a wider array of courses for the students, but also by organizing a series of events, geared toward stimulating the students to actively participate in the local cultural scene: concerts, art exhibits, theatre, folkloristic celebrations, etc.
Another important priority for the Accademia is the enthusiasm and motivation of our professors, the fundamental element for attaining a complete didactic success in their rapport with the students. Aside from the necessary accademic preparation, our instructors regulary attend seminars to be updated with the lastest techniques of the most important universities in the field of linguistics and language learning research.
