Highlights:
Costa Rica is without a doubt an excellent option for study abroad. The Spanish spoken there is clear, pure, more formal, and more slowly spoken than in other Latin American countries. Its people are very friendly and highly educated with socio-economic conditions higher than neighboring nations. Costa Rica, with its impressive scenic beauty, boasts a consolidated system of protected areas, social and political stability, high educational levels, and efficient infrastructure and services in one the world's great adventure hot spots. All of this offered in a territory of only 51,000 square kilometers, bounded by the Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean Sea. The coasts are separated from each other by only three to four hours by land or 45 minutes by air.

Learning in Costa Rica (ILASO)'s Mission Statement: ILASO is a Costa Rican organization that focuses on quality international education. ILASO administers programs that allow high school and university students and educators to study, volunteer, work and teach abroad.
ILASO has different language programs designed in order to fulfil the needs and university requirements for adventurous students who like different cultures and people.
ILASO is not just another study abroad program. We are the only program that has a social commitment to the community and encourages students to do volunteer work as part of their experience abroad. This is a good opportunity to improve their knowledge of the language and live the real Costa Rica. Our directors are native Costa Ricans with a high academic background and extensive experience working with foreign students. They can advise you in how to choose a program that fits your needs. Our staff members will help with any problem academic, administrative or day-to-day and give you insider tips on the city and country.
