Arabic Study and Cultural Immersion in Ouarzazate
Morocco
Dates: Throughout the year
Description:
Oasis Language School is a small school, teaching Arabic, French, and Tamazight language to foreigners. It was created in September 2004 in the south of Morocco. Working as a private school, the school is run by a team of teachers and some active members who are united by their interest in foreign cultures, languages and pedagogy. Classes at OASIS are conducted in a small school housed in a building near prestigious hotels and residences. If you are already a student of Arabic and need to develop your communication skills in an Arab country, or if you plan to settle down in Morocco, we have courses that will suit you.All year round we welcome people of different nationalities and backgrounds who wish to learn or improve their knowledge of today's Arabic and Moroccan culture. On the first day - usually a Monday at 10 am - we get to know each other and introduce you to the school. An evaluation is carried out in order to determine your level and put you in the appropriate group. In order to work in a friendly atmosphere, we have chosen to work only in small groups. The maximum is 9 people in a group; coming from various countries, backgrounds, and of allages. The school provides a meeting place where you will be warmly welcomed and soon feel at home. Accommodation with a Moroccan family can be arranged as well. Oasis's main office is situated in Ouarzazate.
Highlights:
Oasis School is in Ouarzazate, a city risen from the bowels of the earth, in the midst of the desert in the south of the kingdom of Morocco, a breath-taxingly and elusively varied setting. Ouarzazate is the film capital of Morocco, with everything from Lawrence of Arabia to The Mountains of the Moon and Star Wars being filmed there. The studio outside town is an impressive sight, and open to the public for tours. Our teaching is intentionally based on the everyday spoken language, using our own supply of worksheets created by the teachers themselves. The variety of topics covered by this material (oral and written expression, grammar, listening and reading comprehension, pronunciation) enables us to design a program perfectly suited to the needs of any given group.
