  • Tokyo:
  • Tokyo

Term: Throughout the year
Dates: 8 start dates from Jan. to Oct 2008

Description: The school is located in the residential area of Okubo and is only 3 minutes away from one of the main districts in Tokyo called Shinjuku. There are bank machines, restaurants, bars and a hospital nearby for your convenience. The closest subway stations are only 5-10 minutes walking distance from the school.

The area of Shinjuku is one of the most vibrant parts of Tokyo. It is the main business district along with being the most crowded place in the city. Here you can see thousands of Tokyoites rushing off to work. At night, Shinjuku turns into a lively spot full of restaurants, bars, and clubs. If you want to see how the locals get down after work, Shinjuku at night is the place to see.

The school can accommodate many students with 13 classrooms that are all fully air- conditioned. The maximum number of students per language class is 15. The atmosphere of the school is very multicultural as 50% of the students are from Asia, 30% from Europe and 10% from North America.

Internet access is available at the school for free to check webmail only and there are Internet cafes located nearby. Other facilities available at the school are a common/social room and a library.

Highlights: The metropolis of Tokyo is the capital and cultural center of Japan. Here you will find glitzy nightlife to tranquil beauty of spectacular flower gardens, museums, art galleries, and religious shrines. Boutiques and trendy shops offer the latest in fashion from both Japanese and Western designers. Whatever you may desire, it can be found in Tokyo!

Tokyo is a very large and diverse area, but all points of interest can be reached by public transportation. Some areas of interest would be the famous Ginza shopping and entertainment district, the Ameyoko Market, the Yasukuni Shrine dedicated to the deities of Japan. The Imperial Palace and the Palace East Garden is just one of the many beautiful gardens in the city. The Tsukiji Market in Tokyo is one of the largest fish markets in the world.

Asakusa (Old Tokyo) is a place in Tokyo where you will experience the real traditional Japanese culture. There are a few major sights to see, such as the Sensoji Temple and the Five Storied pagoda. The area is lined with colorful stalls that sell everything from festive treats and souvenirs.
