Portuguese Study and Cultural Immersion in Lisbon
Portugal
Term: Throughout the year
Dates: Start dates every Monday, all year round.
Description:
Our school is located in the city center and also has another two study locations across the city, all located around the Saldanha Square area and close to the beautiful Eduard VII Park. The school is recognized by the "Instituto de Cultura e Lingua portuesa - the official entity for Portuguese". It offers a friendly yet professional atmosphere and has over 20 years of teaching Portuguese to foreign students. School facilities include 20 bright classrooms, TV and video room, audio recorders, computers (with free internet access) and language lab. Students come from around to study at the school, the highest percentage being from Europe and the school capacity is 85 students per day. A local gym/fitness center is close by and the school is close to public transport.
Highlights:
Lisbon is the capital, which is older than modern Rome and is in fact older than any other western European capital. There are few more immediately agreeable capitals than Lisbon! A lively and varied place, it remains in some ways curiously provincial, rooted as much in the 1920s as the 1990s. Wooden trams from before World War I clank up outrageous gradients, past mosaic pavements and Art Nouveau cafes. Modern Lisbon has kept an easy-going, human pace and scale, however the population has doubled over the present century to nearly one million, a tenth of all Portuguese.
