Spanish Study and Cultural Immersion in Santiago de Compostela
Spain
Term: Throughout the year
Dates: Starts Mondays at least twice a month, all year round.
Description:
Upon arrival in Santiago de Compostella, you will see how different this city is from the rest of its Spanish counterparts! Our school is situated in the historic district of the city called Porta Do Camino and is only steps from the main Cathedral! There are many shops, cafes and bars surrounding the school so you are not far from enjoying some fine Galician cuisines and tasty tapas. Our small school is housed in a charming pastel painted building within the old quarter. The school has a very intimate and pleasant atmosphere with a maximum capacity of only 66 students and 5 students per class. Our school has a real mix of international students from around the world and Europe, the most popular nationalities include German, English, North Americans, Scandinavian, Dutch, Italian and Japanese.
Highlights:
One of the most attractive cities in all of Spain Situated in the northwest of Spain on the Atlantic coast, it is the capital of the Galicia region. Santiago de Compostela's artistic and historical importance was confirmed in 1993, when the entire city was made a UNESCO World Heritage Site, later in 2000, it was the European city of culture. The city is also known as the third holiest site in Christianity after Jerusalem and Rome. The city is popular for its pilgrim routes, in particular the pilgrimage of the apostle St. James that draws thousands of people from around the world to the Cathedral. Santiago de Compostela also remains an elegantly preserved medieval cathedral town. The Old Quarter contains monuments dating back from Romanesque, Baroque and Neo-Classical periods. Its winding narrow streets are built from local stonework. When the weather is clear, the stone glimmers in the sunlight and on rainy days, they sparkle enchantingly. Here you can find The Hostal dos Reyes Catolicos the oldest hotel in the world and The Praza do Obradoiro, with the great Baroque façade of the Cathedral, it is magnificent. The entire Old Quarter is of architectural appeal, great to discover on foot.
