Description: Since 1950, IES has been building quality study abroad programs and introducing U.S. students to new places, studies, and ways of thinking. A non-profit educational organization, IES offers high academic standards and extensive financial aid in almost 30 programs throughout the world.

The IES Tokyo Summer program is a perfect introduction to Japan for students with little or no Japanese language. Just a half-hour away from the concentrated bustle of downtown Tokyo, Makuhari is a welcoming environment to newcomers to Japan. The summer program focuses on Japanese language and culture. Each summer student takes a course in Japanese language for five credits and a course in Japanese culture for one credit for a total of six semester credits.

Highlights:
* Full access to campus facilities at the Kanda University of International Studies in suburban Tokyo.
* IES Center located just off campus in the ultra-modern.
* IES Center located just off campus in the ultra-modern Sumitomo building. The Center is walking distance to public transportation, a fine beach, and many public amenities.
* A challenging 6-semester credit Japanese language and culture program for true beginners and advanced beginners.
* Field trips to historic and cultural sites including a visit to a country village.
* Accommodations with Japanese families or in student dormitories.
* Kanda University students will be on campus during the IES summer session.
