Complete Immersion Homestudy - Jerusalem & Tel Aviv, Israel
Israel
Dates: Weekly/Monthly
Description:
About the NRCSA Center Private or semi private tutor foreign language classes are provided by your teacher at your lodging. Teachers are highly trained professionals with years of experience in the teaching of their language to foreigners. Lodging is in the homestays of native speakers. Only the target language is spoken in the homestay. Residences are typically outside of heavily touristed areas, in neighborhoods where the target language predominates. About Jerusalem Jerusalem makes a strong claim to be unique, however overworked that word may be. A mountainous walled city with a 5,000 year history of continuous habitation, Jerusalem is holy to followers of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, making it revered by more than one-third of the world's population. The focal point of any visit is the walled Old City, a square kilometer of exotic sights, sounds, and smells, its air as thick with chanting as with charcoal smoke, the souk (market) redolent with the tang of tamarind and alive with the tinkle of trinkets. Step outside the Old City, and you will discover a vibrant, modern metropolis of a half-million inhabitants, not as cosmopolitan as Tel Aviv, to be sure, but possessing a variety of good restaurants, concert halls, markets, and high-quality stores, as well as quaint neighborhoods that embody an earlier simplicity. About Tel Aviv Tel Aviv is the pulse of Israel, the center of economy, business, culture, and cuisine. This cosmopolitan city on the Mediterranean has sandy beaches, fine restaurants and nightlife, and an exhilarating art scene. With one-third of Israel's population, approximately 2 million, it is no wonder that the residents call it the city that never stops. Sidewalk cafés are everywhere, with Mediterranean-style buildings and skyscrapers sharing Tel Aviv's 138-square-km area. The city rose from the sand dunes less than a century ago and was named Tel Aviv in 1909. Today it is inhabited by a diverse population, including those of Jewish, Arabic, African, Polish, and German decent, that has created a dynamic cultural and social mixture.
