Description: The International Center for the Study of Languages (CIEL) specializes in the teaching of French as a foreign language. Founded in 1987, CIEL is run by the Brest Chamber of Commerce and Industry. It is a state-recognized school which operates within the framework of a cooperation agreement with the University of Western Brittany which helps to oversee the quality of the French language programs offered by CIEL.

Currently CIEL is located in a beautiful 19th century manor house overlooking a beautiful bay. The facilities are excellent and the classrooms are ideally suited to small group instruction. Students have access a language label, a multimedia room, student lounge and a cafeteria. All CIEL teachers are university graduates, who specialized in teaching French to foreigners and are chosen by highly selective recruitment procedures. CIEL places constant attention on updating teaching methods and creating a relaxed classroom atmosphere conducive to French language study. As with all of our programs in France you will also have the opportunity to take part in a variety of activities and excursions outside of class. CIEL organizes these activities to help discover the region of Brittany. You will have a chance to visit numerous natural settings both delicate and grand, small towns with character, and old medieval castles.
